Halloween Decorating

Boo! How many times have you heard that one in your life? It's that cliche term that every human being uses when they're attempting to frighten someone. Okay, so it's a classic. And you know what else; folks will be using the same word a hundred years from now. Especially on that ghostly, eerie night when the goblins truly do come out to play. You know the one where all the little kids race up and down the sidewalks in search of goodies. Yes, I'm talking about Halloween. It's only like the coolest day of the year. When else can you actually dress up like anything you wish, and frolic about in the streets past your bedtime? It's a wonderful event full of costumes, scares, tricks and treats. Just thinking about it gives me goose bumps. In fact, now I can hardly wait until that next October 31st rolls around. Yes indeed folks, it's all about the Halloween decorating. Since I'm now a parent and no longer trick or treat for my own candy, I love a fully decked out house, loaded with spooks and frights.

How's the Halloween decorating going this year? Wait; you mean you haven't even started yet. Yikes, you'd better get on the ball. That night when the goblins come out to play is only a few months away. It's prudent to get a good head start on these sorts of things. What Halloween decorating did you do last year? Please don't tell me you're that guy, who avoids the jovial occasion altogether. You know, that person at the end of the street who always leaves the lights out every October 31st. For the record, no one likes that guy. We all just assume that he oddly thinks Halloween is evil, or he's simply too cheap to purchase a little bit of candy. No Halloween decorating, no eerie sounds leaking from the home, no cackling, no nothing. Just a dark house. Well, instead of being a big party-pooper, why not delve into the spirit of Halloween and do some serious Halloween decorating around your home? Dangle some massive spiders from your ceiling, string cob webs all over your bushes, and crank up that ghoulish melody so that all the trick-or-treaters will light up as they approach your door for a treat. Now, if you don't actually have anything to start your Halloween decorating, this is not a problem. These days you don't even have to venture off to some Halloween superstore. You can get all your Halloween decorating done with the help of your home computer. Get online and check it out today.

Halloween Decorating

Autumn is the time of the year that affects each person very differently. Some people like the fact that children are back in school and their family can resume a routine, others are looking forward to the holiday season and others become depressed because of the shortened hours of day light and the coming of the winter months. I love the fall. I love the colors of the leaves and the crispness in the air. I also like Halloween decorating. This is a trend that seems to become more popular each year.

When I was growing up we would carve jack-o-lanterns the night before Halloween and set them on the front steps. That was the extent to the Halloween decorating that my mom did. My first year of college was a different story. I rented a house along with eight other women. We made ghosts to hang in the trees and had a witch on a broom that was attached to the door. When we opened the door the witch would fly across the front porch. This was one of the cleverest Halloween decorating ideas I had ever seen. One of the other women's family made one every year. The witch is made by tying a green helium filled balloon to a stick. A witch's hat is then put on the balloon. The stick is attached to a string that goes around the door knob and the stick is balanced on something about six feet off the ground. The house we rented in college had a window that we were able to balance the stick on the upper frame. When we opened the door the string would tighten and the witch would come flying at the head of the person ringing the doorbell. This was great fun. We had to take turns setting the witch on the window sill and running around the house to come in the back door. We laughed that our Halloween decorating was helping us get our aerobic exercise.

Today there are much more sophisticated Halloween decorating ideas. There are huge lawn ornaments as well as special lighting to use. One of our neighbors converts their yard into a grave yard. They put up tomb stones and tie bats in the trees. They have sculls and skeletons as well as a full size Frankenstein. Their garage is set up as a haunted house. Her elaborate Halloween decorating costs several hundred dollars. Each year she goes out the day after Halloween to add to her collection. They have built a shed in the back of their property to store all the decorations.

Halloween Decorating

Not everyone enjoys Halloween, but in my house, it is one of our favorite holidays. I guess it depends on how you look at the holiday, and what it means to you and your family. To us, it is a time to enjoy dressing up, and having fun together. One of the best parts of this day for us is the Halloween decorating. There is something about spiders and other spooky things that make this fun. Normally, you don't want a spider in your home, especially a big one, but for Halloween decorating, large scary spiders are a must.

When it comes to Halloween decorating, there are many different ways to go. I love to see homes where people take their Halloween decorating very seriously. They have elaborate setups in their yards, and you almost want to get out of your car so you can investigate. I have seen elaborate Halloween decorating schemes that include a graveyard, dead trees, sound effects, and even a fog produced by fog machine. Incredible! These people might also have loads of spider web and flashing lights to complete the scene. These house, coincidentally, are the best places to take your kids when you are out for trick or treat. Not only do they take their Halloween decorating seriously, they put a lot of thought into the treats they give out.

There are also folks that take their Halloween decorating ideas indoors. They don't stop with simple decorations; they turn their home into a haunted house. This is a lot of work, but they must enjoy it completely, otherwise, why bother? These people enjoy decorating just for the trick or treaters that may come by. This isn't as common as it used to be, because many parents won't allow their children to go into a stranger's home, and this is probably for the best. It always takes a few loons to spoil it for everyone else.

If you are really into Halloween decorating, you can find almost anything you can imagine. What you get is only limited by your budget. You can look in local specialty shops for great and interesting objects, or you can do a search online. If you look online, you are going to find things you never imagined. You can find stuff from all over the world to complete your Halloween decorating scheme, as well as the tried and true classics that you may have grown up with. No matter what you may dream up; you can find it out there somewhere.
