Pink Costume
Pink Costume
In a recent survey of thousands of women, the majority said they preferred the color pink above all other hues. With its' feminine quality, this rosy shade has enjoyed a romantic reputation with women for hundreds of years. Not overwhelming, like red, pink is a favorite choice for costume colors. With a little planning, you can put together a stunning pink costume that looks as though you've come off a magazine cover.
While this color is one most women love, your pink costume could still amount to a fashion disaster if not properly coordinated. Before you rush out to the mall to pick out a pink costume, map out what look you're trying to achieve. Let's say its winter. Do you want to look warm and cozy, or do you want to show off a lithe and supple figure?
For a cuddly, huggable and feminine look, sweaters are your best friend. This season, a plush, pink sweater, partnered with a pair of hot pink pants can make a hot outfit indeed! A light shade of pink sweater makes your facial features look softer, while the deep and bright tone of the pants' color defines the curves on your legs, while minimizing imperfections.
What good is a winter pink costume without accessories? Scarves, mittens, and hats are certainly suitable for winter. There are fuzzy versions of these accessory favorites and chic and shiny beauties from which to choose. A patterned silk scarf can liven up any pink costume! Long fuzzy scarves are comfy, warm and festive. A tightly woven wool scarf lends a more collegiate look.
For the magazine cover effect, you'll not want to neglect feet and hands when putting together your pink costume. Tall leather boots with beaded rims fashionably get you through the cold months. For an ultra-feminine look, a stiletto heel on your boots will complement the rest of your pink costume. Of course, you don't want to overwhelm yourself in pink, so consider boots in a light cream or black shade.
If the weather is especially bitter, a pair of mittens or gloves will keep your fingers warm. Beige, black, shades of pink and white might be good choices, depending on your main costume colors and other accessories. Keep in mind that hot pinks and reddish shades stand out, so if you've got large hands, they will seem larger still in bright colors. Furry trims on mittens and gloves are popular this season.
As always, start putting this style of pink costume together around the sweater. From there you'll be able to determine the best color of pants to match. Buy your main pieces first, then shop for shoes or boots. Accessories are last on your shopping list. Using this method, you'll be assured everything goes together nicely, with that well put together look you see on the magazine covers. With good shopping techniques, you'll have a lovely pink costume that will be noticed!

Pirate Costumes
Pirate Costumes
There was an episode of Seinfeld once where Jerry proclaimed that he did not want to be a pirate. While the episode was funny, I can't imagine not wanting to be a pirate. The modern day idea of a pirate is much different than what they used to be, but that is part of the fun. We all know that they were once very feared, and they did horrible things, but that doesn't stop us from loving the idea of them today. There are modern day pirates, but they are nothing like what we see when we go out to get pirate costumes from the store.
There are two very popular pirates today, and they are both fictional. Those under eight probably know who Captain Feathersword is from the popular kid's show The Wiggles. Those over that age probably know more about Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Their pirate costumes are nothing alike, and the image they portray is very different as well. There is something about pirates that captivates the imagination - even though the origins of these folks is very questionable as best.
No matter, pirate costumes are still a lot of fun, and very popular for Halloween. These are also popular for all types of children's events. There is just something about a pirate, any pirate, that seems to capture the imagination of children everywhere. Perhaps it is the silly way they talk, or perhaps it is the fact that pirate costumes are so much fun. Adults tend to love them as well, and often choose these when they have a costume party at any other time of the year. These costumes of pirates don't require a lot of makeup either, though some facial hair is always a nice touch.
If you are looking for pirate costumes, you have a lot of options. Obviously, you can go out to costume shops to see what they have out there. There are many from which to choose, but you may not find the one you want. The Captain Feathersword outfit is only available in children's sizes, and you may only find them on eBay right now. If you can't find what you want, you can easily go about making your own by sewing it yourself, or by finding pieces to put together. Look around online, and even search through your local thrift stores to see what you can find.

Princess Costume
Well, the decorations are up at my house. We've got the skeleton hanging on the front door, the stunned witch crashed into the garage door on her broomstick, the decrepit signs stuck in the front yard, the jack-o-lanterns burning, and the eerie music filling the night air. I guess you could say we're ready for those trick-or-treators. That time is drawing near you know. I certainly hope you've got some spooky decorations ready to go up. Or at least you've picked out your costume, right? Better act fast, because all the good ones will be gone. I picked up a princess costume for my teenage daughter over a month ago. Now it's not just any aristocratic get-up. This thing is one of a kind. This year she will go as a zombie princess.
It's a blast raising girls. And it's not just because of the princess costume they sport on Halloween night. It's the whole wardrobe package. Just take a gander at any local clothing store. The girls section is so adorable. Of course I'm talking about small girls here. When they're infants and toddlers, it's the best. The boy attire can hardly compete. So give this some thought; all you potential parents out there. It's more fun to dress up little girls. I can still recall when my youngest daughter wanted her very first princess costume. It was on her third Halloween. She was so stoked about carrying a magical wand and wearing fancy shoes. I have to admit, I was worried that suck a costume would not be warm enough on Halloween night. She didn't like it very much when I brought her coat along, just in case. The funny part is she ended up wearing it half the time we were trick-or-treating.
You definitely won't have any difficulties finding a decent princess costume this Halloween. These get-ups are everywhere and they come in all shapes, designs and colors. However, like I said before, you should purchase your princess costume or any costume for that matter, ahead of time. This ensures that you will get that perfect size you require. It's always better to be safe than sorry. Oh and, be sure to take along that jacket for your little princess on Halloween night. It just may get a bit nippy.
