My Daughter
Halloween Books
Once a year that night rolls around and allows the supernatural to become a reality. Children around the world scurry from house to house in search of sugary treats. The ghouls, goblins, and spirits frolic about on their one true night of freedom. It's only on Halloween that these inexplicable entities can grace the physical real without being noticed. While some may find this rare occasion creepy and unsettling, I on the other hand see it as a time of pure old-fashioned fun. Halloween has been my favorite day of the year ever since I can remember. This is why I enjoy every second of it with my daughter. She simply loves it when I read Halloween books to her.
Reading is definitely a popular past time that never seems to fade. Sure, many people prefer the television or movie theater, but there's always something to be said about a good book. For me, it's Halloween books. I truly enjoy reading ghoulish and creepy tales to my seven year old daughter. With books we are aloud much more freedom. It's a great way to get sucked into a different world and let your imagination run wild. With TV and film, this is not so effective. All that can be seen is put plainly before your eyes on a screen. Then there's no more mystery. Your mind doesn't get to decide how a character looks or if the scenes are one way or another. When I read Halloween books to my daughter, she imagines everything and forms her own impressions. She loves to tell me about it. This is wonderful exercise for the imagination, and that's something kids need now days.
One of my favorite authors is R.L. Stine. He writes some of the best Halloween books and stories to date. At my house we can't get enough of his bone-chilling tales. These simple Halloween books can make quite an impression. I know they're worthwhile when my daughter chooses hearing a scary story over watching a cartoon. If you are into Halloween books or terrifying tales, you can find a plethora of quality books online. The Internet has all that the mind can fathom and more. A great place to search for Halloween books or any other book for that matter is Amazon.com. This ideal web store not only offers a great selection, but has very competitive prices to boot. Pick up a few good Halloween books for your reading pleasure today.

Halloween Books
There are many clever ways to "celebrate" Halloween. As twenty-somethings (quite a few years back), my friends and I would of course do the costume thing, and have Halloween foods and drinks, etc., but we would also pull out what we considered Halloween books-and take turns reading to the group in the side room interested in good literature or just in being titillated or scared.
The best of a Halloween books collection of course starts with Edgar Allen Poe's works, the short stories of horror and depravity that still have the power to move these two centuries later.. My favorite shorts were "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Masque of the Red Death," the first for its haunted house (Halloween books and stories) feel, the second for its appeal at a Halloween party in a house with a bunch of rooms wherein one imagines one is trapped, with other people, for days and nights.
Also more terrifying-if you don't want Halloween books, per se, but just want to get into a metaphysical, parapsychological, the cosmic, the occult genre, real people haunted by real ghosts and other phenomena, true scary stories mood-are the following (for teens and adults, that is):
Amityville Horror, by Jay Anson - This book is creepy from the cover, with a photo of the actual house, which looks alive with the windows and doors giving the illusion of a face. The book is based on the true story/events, of a man who killed his family and of the new man and family who moved in and became possessed.to emulate the former house inhabitants. One of the best Halloween books ever. The first that comes to mind when I hear or read the phrase "scary books" or "Halloween books," in other words.
The Shining - A number of Steven King books scare the pee out of you, but for me this one is frightening because it is realistic enough to be psychologically terrifying. The possibility of a writer with cabin fever, staying in a shut-down hotel in the woods of New England in blizzard-snow storms and black outs, with ghosts of hotel parties past...
The Mephisto Waltz - I am still trying to find a copy of this, so I can tell you the author, for starters.but there are scenes in this creepy story where the guard dogs, Doberman Pinschers, track the protagonist in the most eerie and terrifying of ways, whenever she tries to get out.. Oh, just found the author's name: Fred Mustard Steward.
Of course, there are numerous "approve" Halloween books for kids, but I focused here on the Halloween books for adults, as we get to have a little thrill, too. And The Happy Pumpkins didn't seem like a title that would do much for anyone, anyway.
