Cowboy Costume

Back when I was just a young sprout, I wanted to be so many different things. Keep in mind that this changed daily. Heck, I couldn't make up my mind. On some days I was Conan the Barbarian, on others I was a cowboy, then I was a ninja, and sometimes even Crocodile Dundee. Hey, don't tell anyone about that last one. What in the world was I thinking? Anyway, there was always one day out of the year when I was able to show off these guises to anyone and everyone. I am referring to Halloween. AKA the candy feast. Okay, so maybe I'm the only one who calls it that. Nevertheless this was an utter blast. I loved showing off my various personalities to the town and neighborhood. It didn't matter if I was wearing my cowboy costume or my ninja suit; this is what I lived for.

How many times did you play cowboys and Indians as a child? Did you really ever play this game? I have to admit that I never did. Sure, I dressed up like a cowboy in my cowboy costume, but there was no one there to play with. My brothers were always off doing their own thing. Maybe that's why I enjoyed Halloween so much. This is when I got to really show off my out fit and gun twirling talents. I loved to tote around one of those old-school pop-metal cap guns. Remember the ones that ran off the roles of paper caps? Those babies were awesome. You could actually hold down the trigger and snap the hammer back repeatedly with your opposite hand; just like in the old westerns. I did this redundantly. I think by the time I was finished with my cowboy costume and gun rig, my parents were thanking the dear Lord. Oh well, it's not like they didn't do the very same thing when they were kids. I'm sure they did. It may not have been a cowboy costume, but it was some get-up no doubt.

Searching for that next Halloween costume? Hey, you may want to give Halloween Express or Spencer's Gifts a shot. These two costume suppliers carry a large variety. You'll spot anything from vampire get-ups, to horrific clown masks, to Bart Simpson costumes, to an old-fashioned cowboy costume inside. Happy hunting and Happy Halloween!

Dance Costumes

My daughter is all into ballet these days. This is probably why I'm always checking out new dance costumes online. She apparently wants to be a ballerina for Halloween. No wait; I didn't say that right. She wants to be a ballerina for her school portion of the day, and then a scary werewolf at night when she is trick-or-treating. Does this make any kind of sense? Kids are funny like this now days. Okay, who am I kidding? It's my kid isn't it. Regardless, we have been searching high and low for those ideal dance costumes for kids. I must say that I am stoked that she loves Halloween so much. It is a blast.

Where would you go if you were searching for decent dance costumes? My wife made the suggestion that we head on over to the local ballet and dance shop. They offer a number of outfits for dancers. However, it's all real stuff for competitions and performing. From the way my daughter talks, she wants her costume to be a tad more on the showy side. I had a friend a few years back who was looking for dance costumes for Halloween. She went to a costume rental shop near our university. I thought this was kind of weird at first. I am not the type who likes to share clothes with other people. However, once I got inside and checked out the dance costumes, I changed my mind. These were truly high-end costumes for Halloween parties and costume competitions. No wonder folks rent them. They would definitely be expensive. And if you think about it, how often would you really use such a thing? My guess is only on Halloween night.

Are you ready for all the little spookables to come a wrapping at your front door? I know we are. So far my daughter and I have narrowed it down to a few choice dance costumes. Good thing there's almost two months left until Halloween day. One thing I can't encourage enough is buying your costumes early on. It doesn't matter if you're in the market for dance costumes, monster costumes, movie characters and so on. The trick is always being one step ahead. This will ensure that you do get the costume you truly want. After all, this terrifyingly fun night only comes around once each year.

Dance Costumes

If you are a dancer, or perhaps your little one is going through dance classes, you have to know a lot about dance costumes. They might seem like a minor detail but when you perform, you may have to change over and over again. I'm not a dancer but I have been to a lot of shows that include dancing, and the costume changes are not only numerous, they are also expected to be very quick.

Dance costumes are often colorful and over the top. That is the nature of show business, and it comes with the territory. This is the case for almost all forms of dance. If you are dancing for a children's show or perhaps in a ballet performance, you are probably going to have at least ten different dance costumes that you have to get in and out of in a big hurry. You have to be comfortable with changing in front of others and you must be able to dress like the house is on fire.

If you need dance costumes for your little one, you can relax a little, as most children don't have to go through so many changes when they perform. It won't break your budget too much if you have to pay for them yourself. However, as they get older, the number of dance costumes they must have will grow in number. If they get to the point where they dance in productions unrelated to their training, in other words, paid performances, you might not have to worry about it any more. In larger productions that make money, the costumes should be provided for them. You may still have to buy tights, undergarments, and shoes though.

If you do need to buy dance costumes, you can find them easily enough online, but you may have to buy something generic and then tailor it to what your little dancer needs for performance. You may be given a specific costume you must buy, and the price will depend on where you can find it. In a lot of cases, the dance costumes they expect you to purchase will only be available in one spot and you won't have any choice in the price. Though it might seem like a lot, if your child is serious about dance, you won't mind the investment when they are happily dancing away on the stage before you.
